Steven Powers Chylinski

Steven Powers Chylinski started his life as an “Army brat,” the son of the son of a Polish immigrant, and a demure southern belle from Kentucky.

It was only by chance that he discovered a plethora of information about his connection to a little-known historical figure, Joseph Jackson, a private during the American Revolutionary War under the command of the intrepid explorer, adventurer and soldier, Daniel Boone. Imagine his surprise when he discovered his 4X great—grandfather knew Daniel Boone rather well!

As a licensed professional clinical counselor, what especially fascinated him was Joseph’s search for a solid and lasting identity. This was just the sort of task a former elementary school teacher, college professor and amateur historian would take on. Chylinski converted Jackson’s life story into a “based-on-a-true-story” novel.

Launch of the sequel in 2025

This book has become part of Dr. Chylinski’s legacy, a gift of sorts to the generations of Underwood, Jones, Spencer, and Jackson family members who will carry the Joseph Jackson stories forward into the future. Powers Chylinski is not quite finished with the Jackson family. He’s already working on a sequel titled, I Am Not There. It is the tale of the son and grandson of Joseph Jackson, the patriarch of the Jackson clan. John Thomas Jackson and John T. Jackson fought on opposing sides in the American Civil War. Theirs is the heart-wrenching story of the struggle to gain a father’s love. Stay tuned for the launch of the sequel in 2025.
